The Libyan Crossroads. Deadly Passage to Europe 2011-2020 by Ricardo Garcia Vilanova
The Libyan Crossroads is a photographic immersion through the stunning images of the winner of the World Press Photo 2020, Ricardo Garcia Vilanova, in the human stories of captive refugees and migrants in Libya, a country turned into a violent political puzzle, that has become the starting point of a very often fatal journey to Europe.
It reflects the suffering and resistance of the people in their journey: from their extremely hard situation in a country devastated by three wars since 2011 and its detention centres, to their crossing in the central Mediterranean in very flimsy boats, and their rescue by humanitarian ships such as the Astral or the Open Arms.
